Oldham residents encouraged to rat on a rat

Oldham Police and Drugs and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) are urging Oldham residents to 'rat on a rat' during National Tackling Drugs, Changing Lives week running from 19 to 23 May.

Those who know about drug dealing and use in your area, are asked to contact either Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and help the police to tackle this type of crime.

Chief Inspector Johnathon Clarke said: "Drug dealing is a blight to our communities and those who live near to a dealer will know that it is happening, but may be scared to let us know. If you call Crimestoppers with information, they do not ask for your name and you will never have to go to court and give evidence.

"These dealers are heightening crime and attracting undesirable people into your area so 'rat on a rat' today and make a difference."

DAAT strategic manager Kay French says ‘The DAAT’s aim is to minimise the harm drugs cause to individuals, families and communities. One of the main ways we do this is to work in partnership to reduce the availability of drugs on the streets of Oldham. We hope residents will join us in using this week as an opportunity to help make this happen.’
