Free Substance Misuse Training

If you work in a face to face role with members of the public who are aged 16 or over, Oldham Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) can offer you free training to help you work with clients with drug and / or alcohol issues. Topics covered:

  • Different substances and their effects
  • The cycle of change – how people decide whether to change their dependent behaviours.
  • The effects of our own attitudes to substance misuse treatment.
  • How your service fits into the Government’s framework for substance misuse treatment.
  • Signposting to local services – what is available

The following courses can also be delivered in your workplace, are available for delivery to groups of 10 - 18 and are free of charge:

Brief interventions with Alcohol Users (Full day, free of charge)

Looking at the problems associated with chronic / binge drinking, motivating clients, brief interventions with drinkers and signposting to local services where appropriate.

Alcohol and the Older Person (Half day, free of charge)

Examining the specific issues relating to older clients who drink, including motivational work and brief interventions.
